Twitter : Is anyone paying attention

This here is an excellent post by Ryan Kelly on the effect of Twitter.

Ryan ran a simple test to find out retweet depth as well as click throughs to his link.

His conclusion  is that

1. Tweet life is 1.15 hours ie if it doesn’t get retweeted in that time, it dies.

2. Click through rate is about 2%. Like other media.

(of course it is one test based on one person, but it is more than anything else I have seen)

If you read on to the comments there are some good thoughts there about content and click through rates.

The usual ones around topic and target audience of course are vital.

It is good to see some bright minds working on the utility of Twitter as it evolves.

Or maybe Twitter itself has a short shelf life..
